Autumn in South Tyrol
Family holidays in South Tyrol
Cattle drive and harvest time on the mountain farm
Autumn with its warm colours is one of the most beautiful seasons in South Tyrol. The leaves turn red or yellow, the days become shorter, the air clearer, and the temperatures are still pleasantly warm. It is harvest time on the farm and the animals return from the alpine meadows.
Experience the Mountains at South Tyrol’s Alpine farms
At the Samerhof in Nova Levante/Welschnofen you can spend cosy autumn days. Hikes, climbs, and bike tours are perhaps even more beautiful this time of the year, when you can enjoy the dark blue sky, the bright sun, and the soothing silence of the golden autumn. The Nova Levante cable car, which takes you from the village centre to the foot of the Catinaccio/Rosengarten, and the Carezza bike trail are open until the beginning of November.
Törggelen in the Val d’Ega/South Tyrol
“Törggelen”, a centuries-old custom in South Tyrol, is a popular harvest tradition in many villages, especially in the Valle Isarco/Eisacktal. Seasonal wine taverns and farm inns serve roasted chestnuts, new wine, and many other delicious South Tyrolean specialities.
At the Samerhof, we love to enjoy balmy autumn evenings roasting chestnuts over a small campfire.
